This is the Trax LifeGuard crush protection device in red, supplied with a standard mounting kit. The LifeGuard is a segmented, flexible arc that mounts to the rear carrier of a quad bike, designed to create survival space under an upturned ATV in the event of a rollover. The arc is constructed from plastic segments on an aluminium base, held under tension by a cord, with a neoprene cover fitted over the assembly. Its flexible construction allows it to deform around the rider on impact rather than acting as a rigid bar. The total weight including mounting kit is 14.6kg, and the arc is rated to support a vehicle weight of up to 500kg. The LifeGuard is designed and manufactured in New Zealand and fits most ATV models. It cannot be mounted to a plastic rear carrier. The mounting arc and tension should be checked every 12 months, with the arc maintained at 33Nm (25ft/lb) and the mounting hooks at 12Nm (10ft/lb).
