Why Choose Genuine Honda 42205-HC5-003?

The transmission brake band is a critical wear item in Honda's HMAT (Honda Mechanical Automatic Transmission) system . This band clamps around the transmission drum to apply friction and engage forward or reverse gears. A worn, glazed, or stretched band causes:

• Slipping during acceleration – engine revs but vehicle moves slowly

• Harsh or delayed gear engagement

• Incomplete clutch application – loss of power transmission

• Inability to hold the vehicle on inclines

• Complete transmission failure if not addressed

⚠️ Critical Service Note:
This band is lubricated by the transmission fluid and should be replaced in conjunction with a complete transmission fluid service. Always inspect the transmission drum surface for scoring or heat damage when replacing the band. Replacement typically requires partial transmission disassembly – consult your official Honda service manual for complete procedures .

Non-genuine or aftermarket bands risk:

• Incorrect lining material – improper friction coefficient leading to slip or grab

• Sub-standard adhesive bonding – lining separation from band, catastrophic failure

• Improper dimensions – incorrect drum clearance, inadequate apply pressure

• Recurring labour costs – repeated transmission disassembly and replacement

This genuine Honda 42205-HC5-003 band is engineered to meet the exact material composition, dimensional tolerance, and friction characteristics required by your Honda HMAT transmission system.
