To apply for grants and schemes to improve your farm’s performance, you need to follow the rules and guidance provided by the Welsh government and the Rural Payments Wales (RPW) Online system. You can find the information about the different grants and schemes, their eligibility criteria, application dates, and payment rates on the Rural grants and payments web page1. You can also use the Single Application Form to apply for multiple rural grants and payment schemes2.
Some of the grants and schemes that are currently available or will be available soon for Welsh farmers are:
- Agriculture Diversification Scheme: A capital grant scheme to encourage the establishment of new agricultural enterprises. The next application window will open on 6 November 2023 and close on 12 January 20241.
- Growing for the Environment: A financial support scheme for growing and using crops that improve the environmental status of a farm business. The next application window for spring and summer crops will open on 6 November 2023 and close on 15 December 20231.
- Small Grants – Efficiency: A capital scheme to help farmers improve the technical, financial, and environmental performance of their business. The next application window will open on 6 March 2024 and close on 16 April 20241.
- Small Grants – Environment: A financial contribution towards capital investments on individual parcels of land. The next application window will open on 8 January 2024 and close on 16 February 20241.
- Woodland Creation Grant: A financial support scheme for woodland creation customers with an approved plan. The next application window will open on 13 February 2023 and close on 22 May 20231.
